Data of earth observations are diverse. GEO Grid provides ASTER data for VO users. VO users can find necessary data easily by searching registered metadata.

ASTER Data The remote sensor ASTER is onboard the satellite TERRA. The amount of the obtained data will be more than 100 terabytes after its operational period. In order to provide online usage of ASTER data, all the data are archived on hard disk magened by Grid File System (Gfarm). Users can easily obtain time series data for any regions all over the world with 15 meter spatial-resolution. |

Geological information Geological information has been a basic knowledge of the solid earth for resources management, environmental assessment, and hazard mitigation for more than 100 years and has been conventionally published as paper-based maps. In recent days various scales and types of geological information such as geological maps, subsurface structure models, soil profile data, and active fault information are released through the Internet and archived in GEO Grid to facilitate the world-wide end-users' access. |

| PEN Data Satellite data are a kind of "superficial" information, which is not easy to interpret in terms of ecological context. Moreover, satellite data are "contaminated" with noise caused by clouds, aerosols, observation angles, and sensor degradation, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to validate satellite information with independent and reliable knowledge obtained on the ground-level. PEN (Phenological Eyes Network) aims at providing such knowledge by monitoring the short-term and long-term dynamics (phenology etc.) of the ecosystems. |
