What's "VO Manager"

A VO manager is an administrator of a VO who creates the VO, manages end users in that VO, and develops portals for those end users.

How VO Manager handles a service

A VO can be considered to correspond to a community or a project for an application, such as weather prediction or disaster mitigation.

1.Obtain a service from a service provider
The VO manager searches for available services through the service registry maintained by the GEO Grid administrator. When you find an interesting service, you negotiate with the service provider to allow access to the service from your VO. Once the service provider permits your VO to use the service, the service becomes available at your VO.

2. Provide a service to your VO users
The VO manager may develop integrated services and workflows which consist of multiple services, and Web portals for end users to provide a sophisticated user interface for access to those services. The VO manager is also responsible for the management of end users in the VO. The VO manager creates and maintains accounts for end users with appropriate identity vetting according to the policy of the VO, and manages the user's attributes, such as the groups he belongs to.

For VO managers, we will develop GEO Grid Virtual Organization Tools (GEO Grid VOT), and GEO Grid Portal Development Kit (GEO Grid PDK). The GEO Grid VOT supports VO managers in creating and maintaining VOs. The GEO Grid PDK is used to develop and customize Web portals.
